柜我們又常稱其為母線電壓互感器柜或電壓互感器柜。里面一般設置有電壓互感器一套、熔斷器一、避雷器等主要電器原件。熔斷器的保險絲為電壓互感器提供保護。電壓互感器是將高壓按一定的變比將高壓按比例轉(zhuǎn)換成低壓的裝置，使其適應儀表的電壓要求。

柜的整體結(jié)構(gòu)采用可拆卸金屬鎧裝結(jié)構(gòu)，設備面板上通常設有大面積的觀察口。它可以隨時觀察PT柜的運行情況。每臺PT設有一節(jié)車廂，其一、二次回路采用分接結(jié)構(gòu)，實現(xiàn)一、二次室分離。柜體整體美觀可靠，可實現(xiàn)現(xiàn)場抽取維護。

柜內(nèi)有測量PT和計量PT（原來要求是要分開測量PT和計量PT，如沒有特殊要求也可以不分開，可以共用）。頂部的小母線可用于向其他高壓柜提供電源。同時為其它設備提供電源，滿足測量、計量和保護電源的電壓要求。
